A fleet of electric buses has arrived in Ghana, marking a significant milestone in the country’s efforts to adopt eco-friendly transportation solutions.

The buses, which are set to begin test operations in Accra this week, are part of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s initiative to promote the use of electric vehicles in Ghana.

According to Dr. Bawumia, the adoption of electric buses for public transportation will not only reduce the cost of living but also provide a cleaner and healthier environment for citizens.

He estimates that operating electric buses in Ghana will lead to a significant reduction in public transportation costs, ranging from 40% to 50% of current rates.

The introduction of electric buses in Accra is a pilot project, with plans to expand the service to other parts of the country in the future.

This initiative is expected to contribute to Ghana’s efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and promote sustainable development.

Similar initiatives have been successfully implemented in other countries, such as Pakistan, where a fleet of 160 electric buses was recently launched in Islamabad.

These buses have been equipped with advanced technology, including high-power motors and quality batteries, ensuring efficient operation and reducing environmental impact.
