Daddy Yankee retires from music to devote his life to Christianity

Puerto Rican singer, rapper and songwriter, Ramón Ayala, popularly known as Daddy Yankee, has officially retired from music to focus on evangelism.

The reggaeton star announced his decision on stage during the final day of his farewell tour, La Meta, in Puerto Rico over the weekend.

Daddy Yankee, who wishes to be an ardent Christian said he now hopes to “evangelize the world” and live for Jesus.

In a video message shared through Instagram, the ‘Gasolina’ hit-maker said that a part of him felt empty and he had been trying to fill a void in his life for a long time that no one could fill.

Yankee quoted a Bible verse; “I was able to travel the world for years winning many awards, applause and praise, but I realized something that the Bible says, ‘what good is it for a man to gain the whole world if he forfeits his soul?’”

The 46-year-old singer added: “One story is over and a new story is going to begin, a new beginning.”
