Blow Job Shot

The Blow Job Shot comes from the 1980s and 1990s when, for a time, naming cocktails with shocking names was the thing to do. During this same era, we were blessed with a Sex on the Beach and the Buttery Nipple Shot. While the names might be a little silly, this was an amazing era…

The Blow Job Shot comes from the 1980s and 1990s when, for a time, naming cocktails with shocking names was the thing to do. During this same era, we were blessed with a Sex on the Beach and the Buttery Nipple Shot. While the names might be a little silly, this was an amazing era for new cocktails such as the Cosmo, The Fuzzy Navel and even the Tequila Sunrise. The Blow Job Shot is a bachelorette party staple.

Ingredients in a Blow Job Shot

  • Amaretto Liqueur
  • Irish Cream Liqueur
  • Whipped Cream

The best glassware choice for a shot is a shot glass. We used these fancy shot glasses— it’s one of my favorites and pairs well with something as fancy and classy as a Blow Job Shot, don’t you agree?

How to Make

This is a layered shot, so you can build it right in the glass. No need for a cocktail shaker. You may want to use a spoon to help make your pour even more gentle. The key to a layered shot is pouring slowly so the layers remain undisturbed.

In your shot glass, begin by pouring in the amaretto liqueur.

Use a bar spoon to diffuse your pour as you pour a layer of Irish cream liqueur over the amaretto.

Finish the shot off with a dollop of whipped cream to top. Serve immediately.

Tips for Making

  • When pouring a layered shot, it’s best to pour each layer from a shot glass instead of bottle as it gives you more control and a gentle pour.
  • If you don’t want to use whipped cream, you can use a layer of heavy cream on the top.
  • To make flavored blow job shots, you can swap the amaretto for different flavored liqueurs. I’ve seen some variations made with Kahlua or Banana Liqueur for the base layer.

How to Drink a Blow Job Shot

While there is no hard and fast rule and you can certainly drink this shot using your hand, there is a novelty tradition you may want to try. This drink is often served “hands free.” You drink it by picking the glass up with your mouth and quickly jerking your head backwards to slam the shot. This is where this popular party drink gets its name, The Blow Job Shot.
