Indian Schools

For the 90s kids, a typical classroom had teachers ‘chalk the talk’ with some of the white dust settling on the heads of the first benchers. They relied on traditional teaching methods of delivering lectures using notes that the kids diligently copied into their notebooks.

Decades later, the setup has completely changed. Books have transformed into digital content, and digital whiteboards have replaced the blackboards.

Today, we are in a phase where terms like digital class, digital board, interactive flat panel, smart board, and interactive whiteboard are the trend. If you look closely, you’ll see a seamless combination of hardware and software that’s making teaching more effective and engaging.

SuperTron Electronics’s flagship brand, Solitaire, addresses the requirement for advanced technology in the classroom with its AI-driven interactive panel.

In an exclusive interview with AIM, Ramya Chatterjee, chief of the brand Solitaire, said, “We provide innovative technology to empower teachers and enhance their teaching experience. Our solutions are designed to simplify their work and improve learning outcomes in classrooms.”

Teachers Can Explain the Water Cycle in Seconds

Solitaire’s interactive flat panels integrate a range of AI features to support teachers in their daily 40-45 minute classes. Its AI-enabled software, Digital Canvas Pro, is powered by generative AI.

It not only simplifies complex concepts but makes them interesting as well. For example, in the past, if a teacher wanted to explain blood circulation, they would draw the diagram of a human heart, spending a good 20 minutes to get it perfect, leaving little time for teaching and assessments.

AI can eliminate this time-consuming effort.

With Digital Canvas Pro, a teacher can simply write “human heart” on the board, and with one click, AI generates multimedia content, videos, graphics, and text, within seconds. This enables teachers to customise the content, create lesson plans, and deliver richer, more engaging classes.

Teachers can also conduct assessments, such as summarising videos or generating questions tailored to specific grade levels.

“Teaching the water cycle to a 7th grader requires a different approach than teaching it to a 12th grader. Our AI adapts to these needs, creating grade-appropriate assessments, questions, answers, and notes to support both students and educators,” Chatterjee said.

The broader vision is to provide teachers with a platform to create their own content using free online resources, with Solitaire’s generative AI engine streamlining the process in the background.

This approach represents a significant advancement in classroom technology, showcasing how AI can save time, reduce effort, and enhance educational outcomes in today’s learning environments.

Schools Adopt AI Interactive Panels

Currently, education is the core focus of Solitaire, accounting for over 50% of their business, spanning both private and government sectors.

“Our go-to-market strategy is designed to effectively address this market, supported by dedicated teams and specialised channel partners. These teams cater to distinct customer segments, ” Chatterjee added.

It has established a strong presence in educational institutions across India, with installations in Kendriya Vidyalayas across multiple states like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Odisha, and Maharashtra.

Other notable installations include Don Bosco College in Manipur, Sri Venkateswara Dental College in Chennai, and Vels University in Tamil Nadu. Additionally, several government and private schools in states like Telangana, Kerala, and Jharkhand have adopted Solitaire’s solutions.

What’s Next?

The competitive landscape in the audiovisual industry (non-AI) is wide, with players worldwide. LG and Samsung are key players in Korea, and BenQ, ViewSonic, Acer, Delta Electronics, and Qisda represent Taiwan.

China’s prominent players include MAXHUB and Newline Interactive, while Japan has Panasonic and NEC, which have a limited presence in India. From North America, SMART Technologies (Canada) and Promethean (USA) are notable brands, and Europe is represented by i3-Technologies, which performs well globally but has a smaller footprint in India.

Senses Electronics from Mumbai and several emerging players are also active among Indian brands. The rapid growth of this market has led to the entry of many small brands, which poses challenges and opportunities.

Interactive panels have already enhanced education, but with AI, the classroom is levelling up like never before!
